Brings together technical and research-minded practitioners to advance how data, monitoring & evaluation, and technology support mobile crisis response nationwide.
AMSA recently held statewide collective meetings in both Colorado and Oregon, and the turnout and engagement exceeded expectations. Representatives came from across the spectrum of mobile crisis and alternative response programs, from urban teams like Denver’s STAR program and Portland Street Response to rural providers serving some of the most under resourced communities in their states. Participants engaged in honest, grounded conversations about the challenges shaping this work, including funding constraints, Medicaid billing barriers, and the need for stronger coordination between 911 dispatch and crisis services. It was exactly the kind of cross-sector dialogue that moves this field forward.
With strong momentum coming out of both meetings, each collective is already looking ahead to May, where participants will bring concrete policy ideas and priorities to advance mobile crisis response at the state level. This work is about building a coalition with enough collective voice to shape the future of public safety and behavioral health in our states, and there is still room at the table.
