This week, we’re reprinting a book review Michelle wrote of Taiwan Travelogue by Yang Shuang-zi, translated beautifully by Lin King. Set in Japanese-rule Taiwan, the novel was recently longlisted for the Booker Prize. This review was originally published in China Books Review. Our book club read Taiwan Travelogue last year—thank you to everyone who joined us! We’re big fans of both Yang and King, who are brilliant and passionate advocates for Taiwan. It’s a joy to see Taiwanese literature receiving international recognition.
