The Rolling Stones. Foreign Tongues
Best cover art since their Warhol-decked heyday, featuring Mick, Keef, Woody and, er, Donald J. Trump. Suitably smutty title too. AI-guided pop with guest stars including Macca, Steve Winwood, and unspeakable goth grandma Robert Smith. Best track: In The Stars — Undercover-lite feel-good earworm with vague nods to life under DJT in 2026. Best video: Jealous Lover — Falsetto Mick ballad with Anya Taylor-Joy a definite upgrade on Sydney Sweeney. I really like Mick as a lyricist, and he’s in his best paranoiac-critical mode when not rapping about love and babes etc.: The only club was called Conspiracy / what they wanted was tyranny / and all that crazy, fucked-up stuff. Oh yes, and Plato. Lots of Plato.

Ride For Revenge. Angels Fly Low.
Finnish miscreants RFR abandon their recent (and not particularly successful) dabblings in power electronics/noise for a straight up doom album. Despite all the PR talk about crushing heaviness, dark occult power, and other such nonsense, this is a fairly sparse rendering, reminiscent of a castrated Beherit on a particularly off day. Don’t get me wrong, there are some fairly decent RFR albums out there, but this sounds horrible. I think it’s the electronic percussion (way too loud in the mix) and juvenile amount of reverb throughout. Best, and most ridiculous, title (by a country mile): Darkness Watches You Masturbate.

caveat: I’ll probably love it in a week.
