In the opening article of this miniseries we positioned MAG #6 as the operational engine of the AM Framework — the point where SAMP and AMP commitments are converted into delivered work across the three natural layers of asset management: capital planning and execution, major maintenance and repair, and sustaining operations and maintenance.
This second article examines the planning and program mechanics that make MAG #6 effective. We will show how AMPs serve as the primary coordinating instruments within each layer, how the SAMP orchestrates their alignment, and how carefully tailored Asset Management Objectives enable both enterprise unity and the necessary freedom for program-level optimization.
These mechanics align closely with established industry best practices in portfolio and program management while remaining firmly grounded in the ISO 55001 requirements for an effective Asset Management System.
