Isn’t getting dressed a lot more fun when there’s something to celebrate? It doesn’t have to be a wedding, birthday (although we had one of those last week), or anniversary either! My mom is the best at turning ordinary moments into special moments. It’s something I admire most about her. That could mean crepes for breakfast, a candle and real china on a Tuesday at dinner, pizza on the beach, or waiting at the airport for our arrival with a cooler of cold drinks. Whenever we go out to dinner and the waiter asks if we are celebrating anything tonight, she chimes in right away with “we’re celebrating just being together.”

This past week, my sister and her sweet family were in town and we had five wonderful days together filled with kids activities (art projects, swimming pool, movies, basketball in the driveway, exploring the woods), dinners on the patio, walks in the neighborhood and of course ice cream. KCD had a lowkey (in all the best ways) birthday and we made it down to the beach where we met up with more family and friends. None of it was fancy (we only went out to eat once all week) but it was special in all the ways my mom taught me. I am one lucky girl 🤍

Here are the outfits and links along with my sizing notes:

The kind of outfit that works every time: This cardigan tee is perfectly crisp, slightly undone and the definition of effortless. Love her so much! I’ve owned these jeans 2+ years and they just get better with every wear.

t-shirt cardigan // straight leg jeans // jelly sandals // gold bangle // sunnies // studs

Sizing notes: cardigan: wearing a size small, jeans: wearing a size 25, jelly sandals: wearing a size 7. Bag is old Sezane but the name is Paloma if you want to try to find second hand!

Took my twin to CREW Coffee because the iced latte with sweet cream cold foam is so good! Love this outfit for a quick trip into town. It was a little chilly in the morning so I brought my favorite long sleeve tee just in case.

white tee // boxer shorts // striped long sleeve // bag // jelly flats

Sizing notes: white tee: Small, Boxer Shorts: Small, Striped tee: sized up 1 to a M, Jelly flats: run tts in a 37

A classic East Coast summer look: Is there anything more classic and pulled together than a pair of white shorts, leather sandals and a striped button down? It’s the kind of outfit you could wear in any high end East Coast summer destination and fit in perfectly. I LOVE this outfit so much…it makes me feel so chic and confident.

button down // shorts // gold sandals // necklace

Sizing notes: button down: small, gold sandals; run big in a 36.5, white shorts: run tts in a 25

Proof that a special bag can make even the most casual outfits feel elevated (without being fussy): This is definitely the most expensive bag I’ve ever owned and I truly love it because it does what all great bags do: elevate any outfit without taking center stage. I did find an alt that is much more affordable and has a very similar aesthetic (see below) but I love the

Sizing notes: jeans: 25 (tts), tee: small (tts), sandals: 7 (tts)

Same tee, styled for a day on the go with the skirt of the year (Amazon): If I wrote that sentence a year ago, I wouldn’t have believed it, but I’ve been wearing the navy skirt all spring. It’s that good (better than much more expensive brands). Decided to pick up the red and it’s getting just as much wear.

same graphic tee // Amazon skirt // nude flip flops // fish necklace

Sizing notes: graphic tee: in a small, red active skirt: runs tts in a small, tkees: run tts in a 7

Love the double layer in this workout set: Something we’re starting to see more and more, this is a trend I LOVE. The double strap creates just a touch of interest. I’ve always loved sets from this brand but this is the subtle detail that makes it stand out even more.

workout set // top // bottom // sweatshirt

Sizing notes: runs tts in a small top & bottom, white sweatshirt: run oversized - in a small

Little pops of the color of the summer: One of the best things about an outfit like this is that you can rotate colorful accessories and layering pieces so it never gets old. I’m completely obsessed with these new to me shorts that I know I’ll wear for several years to come.

white tee // silk shorts // jelly sandals // colorful necklace // woven bag // bracelet

Sizing notes: shorts: wearing a size small, but they run generously so size down if you are between, tee: wearing a size small. jelly flats: wearing a 7.

Celebrating KCD’s birthday with a drink and some pizza: I talk a lot about the versatility of this dress and here’s a perfect example. I love it for a day at the office, drinks. dinner or all three on the same day.

the perfect thrown on and go dress // wrap sandals // necklace // gold charm // gold cuff

Sizing notes: black dress: sized down 1 to an XS

A quick trip to the beach: We’re about an hour from the beach so it’s easy to get down there for a day trip. I am loving this new suit from Left of Friday! It’s so soft, it’s flattering but provides coverage in all the right places and dries super quickly (my three criteria for a great suit).

white one-piece // sarong // nude sandals

Sizing notes: White Swimsuit: sized up 1 to a M

The green and white skirt you sold out, now in shorts: I really have no notes. The pattern worked in the skirt and it works just as well in the shorts. Perfect length, a bit of stretch, very lightweight and gorgeous green color.

striped shorts // white tee // jelly sandals // bracelet

Sizing notes: green striped shorts: run tts in a small, white tee: small, jelly flats: run tts in a 37

I own this sweater in cream and love it so much I had to try the navy: I love my Tuckernuck William sweater so much so why get this? Based on where I live, the truth is I’ll wear them both a ton. This is still cotton, it’s just a little more chunky and warmer so if you live in New England this would be my pick for your year round sweater. If you’re anywhere else, I’d stick with the William.

perfect navy crewneck // white tee // denim shorts

Sizing notes: navy sweater: sized up 1 to a M for a more relaxed fit, denim shorts: sized up 1 to a 26

That’s everything I wore last week…everything is linked here.

I hope you find some special in the ordinary this week and have fun getting dressed in the process!

xx always, Meg
