Donald J. Trump invariably tells us what he plans to do long before he does it.
It’s either a clever strategy or a lack of self-control.
In either case, we ignore what he has to say, no matter how crazy, at our own peril.
Trump has already told us that he’ll only accept election results he deems “honest.”
Translation: only if it goes his way.
This is where things get structurally different, and arguably more dangerous, because after the election, the objective shifts from influencing votes to overturning them.
The certification-delay tactic: an MSN/legal analysis lays out the specific mechanism, Republican-controlled states could drag out recounts past January 3, when the new Congress convenes. Only members with filed certificates can vote for Speaker. If Democratic wins in close races aren’t certified in time, the House could functionally keep its old majority even after voters flipped it.[msn]
