This is not your parent’s Republican Party. Today’s GOP has become ostensibly pro-abortion, pro-porn, and pro-homosexuality. They curse, they grope each other in public, and their hero is a man who fashions himself more of a gangster than a traditional politician. Social conservatism is out, barstool conservatism is in.
Now, I understand that there are still arguments to be made for holding one’s nose and supporting a party that has flaws because the flaws of the other party are even worse. However, what I don’t understand is the idea that this approach is going to lead to any sort of meaningful gains on the few remaining social issues on which traditional conservatives and new conservatives agree.
For example, it seems like most Republicans still stand against the transgender craze. They believe that Trump will stop appointing cross dressing autogynephiles to public office, for example, and Trump himself has promised to stop allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports.
I hope that is the case.
However, let’s be clear that even if it happens, this will be, at best, a temporary stay against one particular way the sexual revolution is being played out today, but that the revolution will continue its relentless march towards societal destruction. Indeed, logic dictates that within the next few election cycles, we will see the Republican Party embrace not only transgenderism, but polyamory, pedophilia, transhumanism, and a host of other evils as well.
Why? Because the philosophy that accepts homosexuality as an actual human identity is the same one that leads to concluding trasngenderism is an actual human identity. The ethical system that allows one to conclude it is fine to commit sodomy has no objective basis, then, for deciding who one can commit sodomy with. And what is that philosophy? The Satanic revolution against reality that began at the fall and has been rapidly destroying the West since it was promulgated by Enlightenment liberalism, as I wrote about here. You simply cannot set up your own ethical system of personal individual autonomy and then expect any arbitrary limits you happen to set up to stand. They always fall.
That is why it is so obvious where this is going. We’ve had this discussion several times before. “Oh, we’ll just allow contraception in certain cases, and everyone who is saying it will lead to the breakdown of the family and the objectification of women and societal acceptance of homosexuality is wrong.” “Oh, we’ll just allow homosexuality and abortion, but it won’t open the door to transgenderism or anything else.” It always leads to something else. This is not a slippery slope fallacy, it is simply logic and history. Abandoning the traditional Christian worldview, and the ethical system that came with it, opened the door to the current cultural catastrophe. Thinking that we can stem the tide without repenting and turning back to God is a fool’s errand.
