Iran War update #48: New vulnerabilities for U.S. troops

An Iranian ballistic missile attack on Jordan has killed two U.S. servicemembers, with a third missing. Video footage posted online shows a missile hitting a housing unit accommodating U.S. troops at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base. Earlier attacks wounded dozens of servicemembers, making the last week the most dangerous for U.S. forces since the war began earlier this year.

There are a few reasons why this may be the beginning of a period of new vulnerability for U.S. forces in the Middle East, with consequences for how the war goes from here.
