At the Amela Frequency 📡, every Monday, we reflect on tech news, share thoughts from our network ✍️, and hand you tools and frameworks for early-stage builders ⚒️. If you’re building (or dreaming about it), you’re in the right place.
Hi Amelxs👋
Last week, I was in Peru for the largest conference in Latin America focused on gender lens investing, the GLI Forum 2026.
And while the panels were interesting, what stayed with me most was not one specific talk or statistic. It was the people.
I got to reconnect with founders, investors, operators, and women building across different stages. And the same thought kept coming back to me:
You are who you surround yourself with.
During the conference, I spoke with one of our more advanced Amelas. She has been building for a few years, and her company is already “default alive” in the best possible way: it works, it sells, the team is in place. She asked me something I loved:
“What do I do now? Things are going well. What’s next?”
My answer was: build your network, darling.
Not because something is wrong. Precisely because things are going right.
When you are in a good moment, that is the time to expand your access to mentors, future partners, investors, and people who can help you see what comes next.
Because sometimes the gap between where you are and where you want to go is not a lack of talent or ambition.
Sometimes the gap is that you have not yet been close enough to people who already crossed the next bridge.
This is also why, at Amela, we opened the community to aspiring founders.
There are amazing women founders out there. But there are simply not enough of them yet.
And if we want more women building companies, we cannot only support them once they have already made the leap. We need to support the women still standing at the edge, wondering if they are allowed to jump.
That stage can feel incredibly lonely.
Many women are the only one in their family, friend group, or workplace saying: “I think I want to build something of my own.”
And when you are the only one, you start questioning yourself.
Not because you are wrong. But because isolation makes courage expensive.
At the same conference, I met some of our aspiring founders from Amela who joined when they were still exploring. Now, a year or so later, they are testing ideas, meeting people, asking better questions, and moving from “maybe someday” to “I doing my first steps.”
That shift matters, because the time passes either way.
But who you spend that time with changes what you do with it.
If you are doing well, surround yourself with people who can help you see the next mountain, if you are still exploring, do not wait until you feel fully ready to enter the rooms where builders are.
Find the people who remind you that you are not the only crazy lady 🤪 in the room.
With that reflection I wanna mention, I am in NYC for the next two weeks. So here is a little gift for all the people who are also in town this week:
And with that, let’s start! 🏃🏽♀️➡️
hugs,
Most founders don’t fail because of product: they fail because they never build a repeatable way to reach customers. In this hands-on cohort led by GTM expert Angeley Mullins, you’ll learn how to clarify your positioning, define your audience, and build a sales system that actually generates momentum. Practical, tactical, and designed for early-stage founders who need traction, not theory.
Every week we are sharing the stories of amazing Amelas changing the world and Maritza Bonano from Changepath is definitely one to watch out!
