I hope you all had a wonderful easter holiday. This week I want to reflect on the following:
“It’s a marathon, not a sprint.”
It’s common wisdom and something we all tell ourselves at some point.
And yet, if I’m honest, I don’t think I’ve fully made peace with it.
Last week forced me to sit with that tension.
It was Easter. A natural pause. A moment for rest, reflection, and time with people you care about. Spring is starting to show up again in Berlin, which, if you’ve been there in winter, you know matters.
Last year, we wouldn’t have paused. We would have kept going.
This time, we didn’t.
We actually took the break.
And it made me realize how uncomfortable that still feels, even when you know it’s the right call.
As founders, we tend to equate motion with progress.
But beyond around 50 to 60 hours per week, productivity doesn’t really increase and often drops.
So more isn’t always better.
Maybe progress isn’t just about doing more.
Maybe it’s also about stepping back long enough to think clearly and set up the next phase properly.
This weekend, we’re back in motion with the community course, a dinner, and Morning Club in Mexico.
But with a bit more intention behind it.
So here’s the question I’ve been sitting with:
Are you actually moving your company forward, or just staying in motion?
