So when my friend and one of the wine world’s most trusted voices, Julia Coney, agreed to join me for a Substack Live, I knew it was going to be good. And it was.

Please excuse my horrendous lighting and way-too-light makeup for said bad lighting. I was at my dad’s house taking care of my toddler minutes before I realized I had no ring light and nowhere else quiet to record that didn’t include massive amounts of overhead lighting.

Julia and I go way back to 2007, when beauty blogging was our entire world (yes, I had an extremely cringe-worthy blog name). Since then, Julia has built an extraordinary career as a wine writer, consultant, and educator, contributing to outlets like Wine Enthusiast, Vogue, Forbes, The Washington Post, and Glamour, and she’s currently pursuing her Master Level Champagne Certification. Basically: if Julia recommends a bottle, you buy it.
