I have been thinking a lot about the opportunities that internet has in store for us lately, and spending ample amount of time with it, I have realized that there are layers of abstractions in terms of opportunities too. Let me explain!
Most people when confronted with the word opportunity interpret it in monetary terms or career terms after all these two are the most important ones and the range of spectrum under which I will be expanding on this notion also relies on these two things.
Skills are identity badges through which people like to associate who they are and what they do, their definition of themselves are somehow linked to it, but this is where my line of thought starts to take shape.
To give you a context, let’s suppose you are web developer so it’s very much obvious that you will look for web development opportunities in the internet but that is where there is a scarcity. Looking for generalized opportunities requires you to be very good at your craft because there are 100 other people doing the same thing that you are doing, probably giving more time than you are.
In such cases the opportunity available to the internet goes to the people who have put years mastering their skill, now I am not telling you are bad but there is always a bigger fish in the pond and this generalized pool of opportunities is the first layer of the internet.
Internet has many such layers and the more specificity or variables you introduce to your craft, you go deeper into these layers and the number of competitors in each layer is in inverse proportion to the depth you traverse.
The most comforting lie that we have ever been told is “something is better than nothing” the internet has abundant resources provided you own a niche.
A lot of people deceive themselves into defining a set of beliefs for themselves, while this a good thing and being rigid on beliefs is a good principle to hold on to life but if your actions doesn’t justify you aligning with your beliefs it will never be fundamental to who you are and the decisions you will make.
Innately all of us have some beliefs or the other, which is very much influenced by our environment and the best way we project it to the outside world is through our actions.
Context is the key to having the most impactful conversations one can have and trying to figure out the context of the conversation before actively engaging in it often times helps us getting past through the most difficult of conversations.
when you admire somebody someway or the other you want yourself to be like them, this generates an instinct of imitation within ourselves which can be harnessed into a super quality.
Imitation breeds innovation and helps people in defining their own niche, the underlying emotion of admiration to someone in the domain you value can be metaphorically compared to collecting pokemons, you never want to have a single pokemon thus you try to collect as many pokemons as you can collectively increasing your power.
Same way people admire different people and try to collect their admirable traits within themselves thus hoping to be a collectively stronger individual.
These are some the things I have been thinking this week, would love to exchange your perspectives on these😄
