Hello and welcome to my Substack page. At the moment, I’m intending to use it to send out a newsletter every couple of months. This will mainly be to let you know about my creative writing workshops and courses, but I’ll share some writing opportunities and prompts too. This newsletter replaces my previous Mailchimp one so you’ll have been moved across here if you’ve signed up to that mailing list before.
Anyway, to get started, here’s some news about what I’ll be doing over the next few months:
Time to Write at Koru
I’m happy to be starting some relaxed Sunday morning writing workshops in the lovely surroundings of Koru Peaceful Pizza (Salters Road, Gosforth). These sessions are designed for anyone wanting to make time to write and be creative and cost £20 including a notebook to take away. The first session is 10.30am-12.30pm on Sunday 28 April. Email me to book your place.
Biscuit Factory Writing Workshops
These longer workshops are packed with writing prompts to do on the day as well as to take away with you. You also get 10% off food and drink in the Biscuit Factory café and a notebook to take away.
Sunday 21 April (11am-2pm) Exploring Nature in Writing – £30
Sunday 16 June (11am-2pm) Re-writing the Past – £30
Sunday 1 September (11am-2pm) Send it Out – £30
Jesmond Library Writing Residency
I’m almost coming to the end of my writing residency at Jesmond Library and I’m currently working to produce an anthology of writing about libraries as part of the residency which will be launched at an event on 4 April (6pm-8pm). Tickets are free but you need to book a place by emailing events@jesmondlibrary.org
Gather Online Writing Group
If you’re not near Newcastle, I have a monthly online writing group which meets on the first Thursday of the month between 6.30pm-8.30pm. Sessions cost £15 each (book via Eventbrite) or you can block book at least three sessions for £10 each (book by emailing me) and it’s fine to come along to occasional sessions or if you haven’t been before. The next session is on 11 April.
Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to find out more about any of the above events. Thanks for following me.
