🌞🏕️ The Quiet Spaces I’m Chasing This Summer

My name is Amanda and I’m an American expat living in London, working full-time as a lifestyle and wedding photographer. Most summers, you’ll find me travelling across Europe, photographing weddings but this summer, I’m taking a step back from my usual routine to focus on a personal project.

For one month, I’ll be documenting an American tradition close to my heart: summer camp. I’ll be visiting six all-girls camps across the East Coast from Virginia to Maine spending four days at each.

I’ve decided to take a break from Instagram during this project and instead share my journey here on Substack. Expect behind-the-scenes notes, ramblings, camper quotes, and of course, photos. While I’ll be shooting most of this work on film, I’ll post some digital images here too to share with you a little glimpse into the nostalgia and spirit of summer camp.

My trip starts on July 10th, but in the weeks leading up, I’ll be sharing a few behind-the-scenes peeks: the photography kit I’m bringing, the gear I’m testing, and what goes into preparing for a month-long photography project like this. It’s a little nerve-wracking, very exciting, and I hope you’ll enjoy following along.
