New Paper and Videos

I finally got around to adding in a short video of my pneumatic workbench in action here. I also added the Part 7 write-up of my Photogrammetry project here and short video of the elevation axis in motion here. Enjoy.

New Papers

Added 3 new papers, (i) U28255_My_Anodizing_Procedure, (ii) U27874_Surveillance_Camera, and (iii) update to my telescope project

New Installment on my Telescope Project

A new installment on my long-running telescope project is provided here.

Perfecting a Pendulum Clock

An Arduino MEGA2560 is combined with a GPS receiver and additional support electronics to slave an old-style pendulum clock to GPS.

Two New Papers

Two new papers have been added. The first pertains to reliable computer storage and a change of philosophy I have invoked for my own data storage (U26767 Computer Backups and Reliability). The second paper is an update on my telescope project (U24933 Photogrammetry for PV Solutions- Part V). Enjoy

Precision XY Positioner & Optic

Very good progress on mounting AEAT-9000 Avago optical encoders in a mount. Definitely overkill, but precision alignment has been a snap, and once aligned, the encoder s performance is solid. The AEAT-9000 encoder delivers 17-bit resolution per revolution and therefore demands serious attention to mounting details. The mount can certainly be made smaller in retrospect, but is not a driving factor…

3-Axis Positioner

One of my clients had need for a small 3-axis fixed positioner and nothing could be found on the market to serve the needs in the time frame needed. Based upon my telescope work, I cranked out two 3-axis positioners. The fixed positioner was completed whereas the computer-controlled positioner is still in work and more [ ]

Photogrammetry Project Part IV

I ve been rather slow in up-loading the last installment of my photogrammetry project. The write-up can be found here. This segment is largely focused on optical encoders and related topics.
