Sure, it’s true. Dave will ask me the same question multiple times a day, several days in a row. However, we try to enjoy what we can as much as we can.
One of those joys is music.
Long before either of us played or sang in praise bands together, Dave enjoyed listening to music from a very young age. it was one of the ways that he would connect with his parents who were not much older than him.
So it’s really funny when Dave remembers a short line from a song or perhaps a melody. Because most often those memories come from the 70s or 80s.
Each time one of those memories pop up in his head and he shares them, I search for the lyric and pull the song up on our Apple Music app. And then we have a little dance party.
Just the other day, this was one of the songs that popped up for him. I’m sharing it so that you can have the brain virus, too. 😀
More recent memories have become lost to Dave. But music has an emotional connection, usually to happier times.
I’m sure you feel the same way about songs from your past eras.
Each time Dave remembers a song, I add it to a playlist called Dave’s memories. Occasionally I’ll just play this playlist, and as each song comes up, he will say, “Oh this is a great one.”
What are the songs that live in your memory? Each one is uniquely personal to your life. Treasure them and revisit them. Life is so short and never guaranteed.
