For generations, people were taught that it was bad form to discuss money, to mention salaries or income, or to talk plainly about business numbers. So the current transparency trend, where people post videos with detailed descriptions of how they earn money, and how much money they earn, can stress some people out. But for many business owners, content creators, and people who are thinking about attempting a new side gig, the clarity around earnings is both a breath of fresh air, and a reality check.

We did a deep dive into the transparency trend to see who is posting, and how much information they are sharing. We learned some of these creators are full-time employees and do content creation on the side. Some earn full incomes from social media. Some are young, in their early twenties. Some are older, in their fifties. Most are in between those ages. Some make products, some sell products, some review products. Some are mothers, some are child-free by choice. Some have brick and mortar shops. Some have online shops.

All of them regularly post about their earnings and expenses, and answer questions from followers where they share even more information.
