Bonus Episode 11 — On Fasting

This is a bonus episode and as such we let ourselves ramble down many tangents with little regard for structure. We begin with a divinatory reading from Tobias’ Oracle Deck, then Tobias brings to the table his exploration of Shugendō, through the documentary film Shugendō Now (2010). We discuss our personal experience with fasting; whether it be for plant medicine ceremonies or other spiritual purposes. Alejandro brings along a book by Rupert Sheldrake and introduces fasting in the context of various religions. Tobias goes full elemental by drawing the Earth, Fire, Water and Wind cards from his Oracle Deck halfway through the episode. What the hell? Alejandro matches up Christian religious holidays with important transition points in the movement of the earth (and only gets a little bit confused). We end the episode speculating about how we could create a new calendar for ourselves to mark the transitions of the year (given our location ‘down under’).
