hi everyone,
The email announcing the new chalk bags was pretty short. this one will be longer. FYI all new batch drops or any packs available now go to my email list, not posted on social media for a day or two until the email newsletter goes out.
First, thanks to everyone who bought one of the new chalk bags.
Ice climbing season is kicking in around the country this past week or two. local Pinnacle Gully on Mt washington is climbable. thin and lots of running water but climbable. Today I finished up the run of my crampon cases. They are available now until gone, then it’s next year.
They are built out of woven Ultra TX fabric. some left over pieces ,some cut off the roll. the Jungle camo is Xpac X50 fabric. Two sizes. the bigger size is for Grivel rigid crampons:G20,G22, Rambo, Footfangs. Regular fits all other crampons. They have a stiffened opening to help make them easy to use with cold hands/big gloves. they stand up when filled and there is room for a Twight ice rack, the route grade number +1. so WI4 is a rack of 5 screws. simple.
not sure if Ice screw bags will make the cut this year.

Another run of the Dyneema Pantone zip bags is in the works and shipping in a couple days. this will be the only batch for this year. these are 1.5 oz dyneema front and back, with the back either translucent white or blue Dyneema. size 10”x10”.
My friend, Sarah May, came up from Brooklyn and helped by cutting all of these 3 batch build this past weekend and sewing the chalk bags. in real life she’s a cameraman shooting movies. She sews,part time, for the film industry at her company, A Total toolbag.
The Catalog 2nd printing is now available until they are sold out.
Since moving into the shop, much to my neighbors chagrin,The zoning administrator sent certified letters to my neighbors informing them of my legal right to be here. To add more fun I cleared my Right of way from their concrete blocks and pushed all their rocks back to outside the deeded 50 feet. If i had blocked their property, like they blocked ours, they would show up with a gun to my head. I know they read my newsletters and with thousands email addresses I not gonna look for them. Hi Aaron.
I have sort of finished the lower level to what I call “Barn finish”. it’s air sealed, insulated with cellulose, wired and has unpainted pine walls. I built a root cellar closet that has a underground vent that was in before we poured the concrete for the foundation. It will be fine for the 400 lbs of potatoes, carrots and whatever else ends up in there this week.
While I am still feel hectic with last minute chores: 4 cords of firewood i have been bucking and splitting in the mornings this week, I am slowly getting used to being at my place full time. I have had brief moments of feeling still. Always while being outside. What outside chores that didn’t get done this fall will happen in the spring. I’ll be clearing trees and mowing till end times.
I have been digging new swales for next years tree planting: Hickory, more old heirloom apples and grafting “wild” apples i have been eating walking through the woods, old growth chestnuts, green gage plums I have to graft, apricots and more peach varieties. If you ever want a tour or see what else I do here besides sewing I’m happy to give a tour.
I have also been gps plotting trees and boundary pins, hi Aaron.
In a return to following other interests I am heading back into photography after a long lapse. I always carried a 35mm camera climbing, usually a nikon F3 or FM. I tried Fuji digital gear last winter and it bricked from ice climbing. I have reupped , going back to nikon, a d850, and a few prime lens to carry climbing this winter. Not all these photos are from my phone.the B&W of huascaran Norte I shot with the F3 at around 18,000 ft. FYI I only buy used gear from KEH or MPB. old school manual focus lens are relatively inexpensive and nikon’s lens from most era’s work on their DSLR bodies.

I met with Libby at amundsens in SoHo. I will be back at their store doing a possible slide show and definitely a pop up on January 28. I will have some sample packs there.
