I was just thinking about the zlib format and remembered Chris Ferdinandi's post about gzip's inefficiency on small files, which led me to wonder how much lower the floor of useful sizes to compress would be if the Web had used Content-Encoding: zlib instead of Content-Encoding: gzip as standard.
