HELLO and welcome back to four-course meal1. My sincerest apologies for the delay on this post — Jack and I have been in the process of moving, and work has been a little crazy lately. But don’t fret, dear patron. I’ve simultaneously spent the last two weeks curating the perfect ingredients for our meal today. Prepare to be satiated.

I also want to thank everyone for being here! I was truly so surprised to see that al dente officially has 100 subscribers! Some of you I’ve known since I was born, and some we’ve never even met. And that is very special to me. Flock to the comments below if you want to chat it up — I am SO excited you’re here!

Hors D’oeuvre

In honor of the Met Gala tonight (I honestly do not care, I feel like there’s too much going on in the world right now to spend my energy caring about this), but I do feel like it’s my duty to at least mention it. Your hors d’oeuvre this evening is quite possibly my favorite Met moment from years past — Liv Tyler and Stella McCartney in Stella McCartney (theme: “Rock Style,” 1999). I should probably recreate this for Halloween one year. It’s perfection.

Appetizer

I am about at my wits’ end with having long hair. I see a chop in my near future, most likely before our next meal together. Although I have been a claw-clip champion for the past 5 years or so, I am growing sick of them. I’m looking for something a bit more elevated and different — something I can wear at work or out at dinner and not feel as Gen-Z as I am. No, I would never spend $130 on one of these, but allow it to provide you with inspo (there are a ton of vintage options on Etsy). Here are a few I found:

Gohar World Brown Bean Barrette ($130)

Vintage Italian Hair Barrette ($37)

Machete Silver French Hair Pin ($85)

French Hair Pin ($16)

Main Course

Miley Cyrus’ press tour outfits have single-handedly kept me afloat while in the throes of packing up my every belonging. My back hurts, I can’t find my favorite sweater, and I spent an obscene amount of money on coffee as the packing of our coffee machine came about a week premature. My brain has been in chaos, but my main woman (Miley) has been keeping it tight and serving us with some serious F A S H I O N. She always brings it when I need her most. Here are some of my favorite looks from her press tour in Paris, promoting her new album, Something Beautiful. And you know what is something beautiful? This Alaïa coat. I simply can’t wait for the album, and if it’s as anything as good as these looks, I see Grammys in our (her) future.

Dessert

Jack and I are headed to Scotland this week to visit his family for a wedding! I simply can’t wait. We are also planning a little weekend away for just the two of us in Milan (!!!) while we’re over there, and I just had to buy this little set for the occasion. Ordering from Damson Madder in the UK is much less expensive than their US prices, so this gorgeous little number will be waiting for me at Jack’s mom’s house upon arrival. I was influenced by Lucy, and my dearest Nono helped me ID the brand (that sorceress). I can’t wait to sport her in Milan and be the cutest, breeziest, summery-est gal. I love a matching set because it allows for so many different looks in one purchase — paired together or apart, my wheels are already turning.

Thanks for dining with me yet again. I hope it was worth the wait!

À bientôt!

- Ally
