Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.
— The Book of Revelation 12:1
THE GOLD OF THE DAWN ON THE GREEN OF THE LAWN,
He grasped in His fingers with love.
He bent and He wrought with will and with thought
And hands bright-white as a dove.
The silver of moon on the rivers strewn
He joined to the gold with a gleam.
And the ocean stars that shine from afar
He fixed to the silver moonbeams.
The gems from on high He plucked from the sky
Were the stars that burned with gold fire.
He placed them around in a circle and bound
Their light to the moon’s with gold wire.
The crown now descends as music ascends,
The music of angels and spheres.
And its sparkle and gleam more bright than a dream
Shines forth through the night and the years.
Fair beauty and grace shine in her bright face,
And wisdom, the blue of her eyes,
In her hair of gold-mirth shine the stars of the earth
And her brow shines with stars of the sky.
