As the weather turns a little chillier, we hope our stories bring a little warmth to your days. This month on All The Best, we bring you tales from our live storytelling night at the State Library of NSW, revisit memories of grandparents, and push at the boundaries between fact and fiction.
Last year’s 48-Hour Audio Corpse Challenge saw 75 people sign up from around the world — will you join this time? #692 - The Catalogue Pt.1: If you missed out on our live storytelling event at the State Library of NSW back in April, this is your chance to catch up! Featuring stories shared on the night by Rachael Cusick, Nathan Mudy-Sentence and Rania Omar.
#693 - Fact or Fiction: What is real and what isn’t? How can we distinguish the line between fiction and reality? Those are the questions which we ask ourselves in this episode.
#694 - Flow States: In this episode, centuries of shame and taboo surrounding a biological process, silenced pain and normalised suffering, and a society complicit in neglect and ignorance.
The Audio Corpse Challenge returns once again this year! The principle is simple: write a 2-3 minute original story from scratch within 48 hours. Participants work individually or as a team, taking turns to write different parts of the same story. The catch, however, is that you’re only given the last 10 seconds of the previous audio piece as your prompt. We’ll then compile this audio relay of stories into one very curious and unexpected “audio corpse”. Check out last year’s result here. If you’re up for the challenge, sign up now! The award-winning audio documentary series returns in 2027 with a 12-episode international collaboration, featuring broadcast partnerships with ABC in Australia, CBC in Canada, and BBC in the UK. Audiomakers at any stage of their career are invited to pitch playful, imaginative works in sound – stories that embrace the expansive possibilities of radio. Submit your ideas by 1 July 2026.
A few places remain for this free workshop this Thursday evening, 4 June, from 6–8pm at the University of Sydney’s Camperdown Campus. The session is led by visiting community scholar Associate Professor Venu Arora.
Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced audio storyteller, Audio Club welcomes anyone to chat about audio story ideas, get feedback on their work, and to meet other like-minded people. We are back with two events next month, one online (Monday 9th) and one in-person at FBi Radio (Monday 20th) .
Heywire is a lived experience storytelling competition from the ABC, calling for stories from young people aged between 16-22 in regional, rural and remote Australia. The winners work with producers to feature their story across the ABC.
Entries must be a true story about an aspect of your life. Stories can be in any format: text, video or - ahem - audio!
