Two summers ago (!!) I created these little archetypes to help me get dressed for the season: Desert Aunt and Surfer Nephew. Desert Aunt is a little boho, Surfer Nephew is a little beachy and there is some unexpected crossover (more on that HERE). But the real intention behind these personas is a bit deeper than fun fodder for content.
Similar to the Three Word Method, these personas are meant to help me (and anyone else who resonates) actually peel back some of the layers and go beyond the basic style words that we typically use (for example, “boho” and “beachy”). As a person, I am not “beachy”, so while that might be a helpful short hand while getting dressed, it can be too one dimensional. So instead, I will look at my moodboard and my inspiration and create a little narrative. What does this woman do? Who is she really? Beyond the clothes….
