Sanctified in the Spirit - My Talk from the Women's Retreat

Last weekend, I was blessed to speak at the Catholic Women’s Conference of Denver Mini-Retreat. It was a beautiful, grace-filled day with an amazing group of women. We reflected on ways of sanctifying our day and growing in union with God through prayer.

My talk was called “Sanctified in the Spirit.” I spoke about Mary Magdalene, her encounter with Jesus in the Garden, and what Mary Magdalene teaches us about loving God. I talked about the role of the Holy Spirit in our prayer life, prayer as a relationship, and practical ways to sanctify our day. It was perfect for the Easter season!

The feedback was incredibly positive and the Holy Spirit was truly present! Many women asked if it was recorded, and one woman (hi Michele!) wanted a transcript to give to her friend in OCIA who had decided to take Mary Magdalene as her Confirmation saint.

So I came home and recorded my talk with these lovely women in mind. It does not have the live-audience energy, but it does have a few coughs and sound blips that make it feel raw. I’m reading more because I am not looking at people, so take from it what you will. If it helps a few more women fall more in love with Christ and grow in their prayer, then it was worth it! I was so moved seeing all our priests at the Installation Mass of our new Archbishop of Denver, that I wrote about it in my piece for Denver Catholic this month. It’s called Honoring Our Priests and Praying for Unity, and it acknowledges the strengths I see in our priests while also being aware of the struggles they face, as well as ways that we as laity can help. I’ve had several priests reach out to say how much they appreciated it!
