What if the thing holding you back isn't failure, but your inability to stop doing something that's working?

In my experience, there are very few sentences that make us feel guiltier than this one: I don't want to do this anymore.

We're taught to be successful we need to push through. That consistency is everything. That quitting is failure. That if something is working, you keep going.

In 2019, I launched the Leave Your Mark podcast as an extension of my book and, if I'm being honest, as part of my exit strategy from corporate life. The tagline was Freshly Brewed Career Advice, and I loved it. I loved having conversations that helped people think differently about their careers, build their personal brands, and make bigger moves professionally. It felt useful and meaningful, and it gave me the opportunity to meet incredible people I otherwise never would have crossed paths with.

The podcast opened doors I never expected. Sponsors came in, the audience grew, and the podcast became something people genuinely associated with me and my brand. The show was eventually invited to join my friend Nicole Lapin's Money News Network, which was enormously exciting because Nicole is brilliant and someone I respect tremendously. At its peak, the podcast was generating around 150,000 listens a month. I'm still getting daily pitches for it.

By every external measure, I should have been thrilled.

I wasn't.
