May 31: Week in Review

Weekend Reads is up on Wardrobe Oxygen. A new-to-me musical artist, my thoughts on The Boroughs (Netflix), a collage of summer style, and the most interesting articles I read this week. I’m a day late with my recap because yesterday I chaperoned a Girl Scout day trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Gorgeous day but incredibly windy and in the shade, I was glad to have a sweater and full-length pants. But it was a good reminder that the ocean is only 2 hours away, I don’t need to book a whole weekend to have a beautiful getaway.

Since the weather said it would be 65 but feel like 55 with the wind, I wore these lined linen pants from Talbots, a white ribbed tank under a Chico’s no-iron linen shirt, an old L.L.Bean “Double L” sweater around my shoulders (held there with a diaper pin), and in my bag an old super lightweight windbreaker from The North Face (think this is the same one). Bag is old from ABLE, sunglasses are my latest prescription frames: classic Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

I am a sucker for a bold print matched set, and when I saw this print at Universal Standard I immediately bought it. This is the Dawn tunic (XS) and the new barrel pants (XS, though IMO if in doubt size down). I tucked in the shirt in back and tied in front. The glasses are from Eyebobs (ALISON20 for 20% off).

The only thing I bought from the Boden MDW sale was this linen tunic (XS). With it I am wearing these pants from Spanx in Large Petite. I have a highlight on Instagram reviewing these and other clothes from Spanx and will have a post on Wardrobe Oxygen soon. The bag is COS.

Tuesday I went to get my forward helix fixed (it had sort of fallen into my ear) and while there, got my nose pierced. This is Maddie, who has done most of my piercings, she is awesome. I am wearing the Reiss Lorna sweater (XL) and these shorts from M.M.LaFleur (I got 16, I wish I got 14, I will be getting them tailored; ALISON15 for 15% off). The black and silver necklace is Heaven Mayhem, the longer silver one is Ana Luisa.

Last weekend, we met the parents of our kid’s boyfriend. He’s a good kid, we like him, and we like his parents too. We met at a local restaurant for lunch, and after perused the attached variety store. This is one of the displays there ad a good way I can tell you I live in Maryland without telling you I live in Maryland!

Other than this, we spent the week looking for a way to sell two pieces of MCM furniture we have that aren’t in great condition but want gone (thinking we’ll go the auction route), I had a city Board of Elections meeting (it was too long, but it happens when you get new board members who are enthusiastic and want to know all the things), and a friend is moving into a new place so we went by last week to help pack up things for moving and likely will be going this week to help unpack and settle in.

Work-wise, things are good. I made VIP on ShopMy, had a good call with my newsletter and brand strategist, an always inspiring Mastermind video call with my fellow OG fashion bloggers, did some cleaning up and organizing behind the scenes, and completed a campaign with Talbots. Summer is a time where I post less and organize more, and I am looking forward to getting my shit together after a couple of slacker years so I can hit Q4 running!
