The brows are READY!
I’ve barely mentioned it, but it’s Boston Marathon weekend, baby!
One of my favorite weekends of the whole year.
And I am so, so ready.
I mean, I’m obviously not actually ready as I’m writing this. I need to finish packing. (Outfits have been carefully selected, though!) I need to put the finishing touches on my prep work for the three events I’m hosting over the course of the weekend. The to-do list is in decent shape, though for every item I cross out (I actually use a pink highlighter instead of crossing things out), I swear I add four more.
So let’s keep this short, shall we?
Your first chance to come hang with me is Friday (today!) at 1 PM at the Boston Marathon Expo at the Hynes Convention Center. I’m hosting a panel with American women to watch — and recurring Ali on the Run Show guests — Annie Frisbie and Amanda Vestri. You don’t need tickets. You don’t need to be running the marathon. Just find the main stage at the Expo (open to the public), have a seat, make a friend, and enjoy our 45-minute chat!
Then, Ali on the Run Show LIVE with Claire Holt at WBUR CitySpace, presented by our amazing friends at Shokz. (Doors at 6 PM, showtime at 7.) I had a run-of-show call with Claire on Thursday morning and we are both so excited for this. If you have a ticket but can no longer attend, please do your best to cancel your ticket ASAP to open a spot for someone on the waitlist. (At the risk of sounding a litttttttle bitchy here, please don’t reach out to me directly at this stage asking for help canceling or transferring tickets. I’m quite inundated, and I’m not involved in the ticketing process. You can probably find the information on the WBUR website or in your ticket confirmation email! I’m sorry / thank you!)
Someone once left me a 1-star podcast review because I went on a rant in an episode about how people get tickets to live shows and then cancel them at the very last second, and it makes me so sad (I know I need to get over that, but I’m sensitive and I unfortunately take cancellations personally which I know I shouldn’t!), and they were like “I can’t believe this is the hill Ali is willing to die on,” to which I say that is not the hill I’m willing to die on! Who said I would die on that hill?! Hell no! (Life happens and I get it, I just hate when there are people on the waitlist who are willing and able to attend and don’t get the opportunity.) The hill I’m willing to die on is that AI is not actually good for society, and that it’s making people dumber, not smarter. That’s my hill!
(If you enjoy the Ali on the Run Show, please consider leaving a 5-star rating and review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify!)
More fun on tap on Saturday, as we go LIVE with Aisha Praught Leer and Eric Jenkins at 1 PM at The TRACK at New Balance. We are 725+ strong for this one (wowowowowow), and I cannot wait! Doors at 12:15 PM, showtime at 1 PM. We won’t be in the throwing room this year — we’ll be right on the track! Like a concert! But different! So if you still want to join us, we’ve opened up more spots to accommodate you!
Then, I’m participating in the New Balance Marathon Relay with the Citius Mag team. I’m running one leg (one mile; eight laps, which feels like seven too many) as the sixth runner in the lineup. This is a stacked team with some seriously fast runners and I am…terrified? Please come cheer. Maybe it will help me run faster. Probably not, but it will make it more fun! (This event was an absolute blast last year. I highly recommend sticking around after the live show to watch. Relay starts at 3 PM, so it’s a quick turnaround after the show!)
And on Monday, you know where to find me: FINISH LINE! I’ll be on the world feed broadcast until 12:30 PM, and then I’ll be up on the photo bridge (up and to your left, runners!) announcing finishers until the end of the day.
SHOWTIME.
(Good luck to all of the runners. Thank you to all of the staff members, medical personnel, and volunteers. I love you all so very much.)
This week on the Ali on the Run Show:
Sara Hall, Author of For the Love of the Grind: You know I love Sara Hall. This was her 10th time on the show! She’s running Boston on Monday (so is her oldest daughter, Hana!), and then her debut memoir is out the next day.
My Boston Marathon Pep Talk: Last year, I was the featured speaker at the Boston Athletic Association’s annual partner summit. This is the speech I gave that day. (It is perhaps less of a pep talk and more of a story. You tell me.)
Ali elsewhere: In the Boston Globe?! Biggest thank you to Globe writer Amin Touri, who handled this piece with so much care, who did so much preparation and research, and who was truly a joy to have in my home and to share my story with. I was nervous about this, based solely on how much I rambled to Amin that day. But the finished piece is beautiful, it captures my story well, and it includes quotes from Deena Kastor, which made me cry.
I am so grateful for the wonderful brands and partners I get to work with on the Ali on the Run Show. Supporting them = supporting me!

Ali
