Hey friends, Happy Friday!
Been a great week juggling lots of fun tasks. I’ve been spending the majority of my time thinking and conceptualizing for the Greenroom Festival in May. My concept is coming together, yet I’m still struggling with some logistics and general output on the scale of things. I love to paint big, but the general audience in Japan loves small. I’m wrapping my head around how to handle this, which is a great fun challenge.
Outside of painting each day, I’ve been spending some time on my website to split things out. One fine art, the other is my shop. I briefly wrote about this last week on how the site is a bit confusing. I admit, as a one-man team, things just pile up, and you just add to them. Some get overlooked :) This is one of those use cases imo.
I also spent time with some of my art friends over the week. Catching up with them on projects and seeing what they are working on. Incredibly inspiring and certainly opened some ideas for me and my workflow. All really great stuff.

Sketchbook 🎉
A few morning sketches for you. As you can see, Japan is on my mind as I’m conceptualizing for my future show at Greenroom Festival. Having a lot of fun with these as I start to get my ideas on paper before canvas.

As I mentioned, I’ve started to build out a new website with prior gallery, commercial work, and general accomplishments. I’ve been bad at documenting interviews/podcast/magazine updates, and I want to keep this in one area. I’m super proud of all the work I’ve done, and it’s easy to move on to the next project without properly getting this in one zone. It’s also helpful for future shows and galleries to work with. This is a slow burner and won’t get done overnight, but it’s something i’m working on in my ‘free’ time.
🎨 Outreach
Never-ending outreach for future work. This week I spoke with a few potential clients, maybe a new mural, and more commercial clients. I love the idea of having my work with other brands, collaborating, and building more of a community
Struggles
While I’m conceptualizing this new show, I’m battling this new painting style and my current style. With any artist, exploring and pushing your creative practice is incredibly healthy and rejuvenating. With this show, folks want to see my current style, but I also want to show my newer work that is more organic, has depth, and removes my black line work. Nothing new here, as I’ve shown this to you all. The battle is whether I show both on one wall, does this appear to be two different artists, or does it show one narrative? To me, my Alimo world is the concept, the output is more liquid. Nearly every artist evolves, and the timing to showcase this is both nerve-racking and exciting
Upcoming inspo
New Keith Haring exhibition at Brant Foundation will be inspiring for me. This may give me that exact representation of how to showcase my work for Greenroom Festival and looking forward to this one. https://www.brantfoundation.org/exhibitions/keith-haring/
