Hello everyone and I hope 2026 is treating you well so far!
I paused my paid subscriptions for a month or so to regroup, and they officially re-started again yesterday, on my birthday. I turned 44, and I have a feeling this is going to be a good year, or if anything a year of hope, of care, of building together.
On that note, you all might know I’ve experimented with all sorts of paid subscription models in the past, but from now on all my new writing will be free to read.
I don’t do any catchy promotions because frankly, I don’t want to lure you into spending money unless you happen to have a little extra.
If you choose to support me, then know that you are supporting not only all of my work on here, but also my research on children’s rights and self-directed education, and my self-directed reading that I am sharing with you all this year (to be fair, I enjoy reading, but I’m making you some awesome free reading lists)!
that children are people, with the right to make decisions in all aspects of their lives.
that mothering and carework is multi-layered, complex and crucial work without which no other work could happen.
that all of our freedoms are intertwined - I cannot be free unless my children are also free, unless my neighbour is also free, unless EVERYONE is also free.
that parenting is political, that everything is political - that our histories of colonial patriarchal capitalism are never not important in providing context.
that we must deconstruct education and the parenting-industrial construct if we are to get to the root of why we do what we do, and what sort of life we wish to lead, what sort of ways we wish to mother our children (i use the word ‘mother’ and ‘mothering’ to include all genders).
Thank you for choosing to support me and this space, I am so grateful.
Your support allows me to keep researching, studying for my Masters, posting and writing.
Sending you all best wishes for the New Year,
