We know this is a lot of information, but there is so much going on and most of it is not being reported, so this report is part education, part activation, and part bearing witness and careful documentation. Please do not turn away in the face of the onslaught of numbingly bad news that happens every day. Note the very doable action alerts, webinars, and videos. And take care of yourself in ways that keep you strong and energized for the work to be done.

What is clear is that the destruction of Gaza and the ongoing killing of its people - whether instantly by bombing or the slow death from hunger, disease, imprisonment, and despair - along with the decimation of the environment, is now being repeated in Lebanon, and in a slightly different form, in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The assault on the academy continues, but the ferocity of the attacks suggest acts of desperation in the face of a growing international consensus on the despicable behavior of the Israeli government and its US ally. There are glimmers of hope during these grim times. Read and share.

  • (6/3) Was Zionism the Only Answer to European Anti-Semitism? | Hezem Jamjoum & Molly Crabapple: A powerful conversation on the Bund and its opposition to Zionism. One of the moderators is the wonderful Palestinian writer and activist Ahmed Alnaouq, cofounder of We Are Not Numbers & the 2 speakers: Hezem Jamjoum & Molly Crabapple are exceptional - I am reading Crabapple's book & highly recommend, Here Where We Live is Our Country. The Bundists clearly stated that they had no interest in moving to Palestine where they would be oppressors because oppression should be fought where they lived in Europe.

  • (6/8) “There’s No Room for Palestine in ‘Viewpoint Diversity’ by Mary Bassett: "Harvard University leaders have been soliciting wealthy donors for $10 million contributions to fund endowed professorships with the stated goal of expanding “viewpoint diversity” on campus. Pardon me for finding this hypocritical."

  • (6/5) New York State must divest from Israel Bonds by JVP Rochester: “New York State’s Common Retirement Fund holds more than $367 million in Israel Bonds, which provide financial support for Israel’s ongoing brutality against the Palestinian people. The state of New York must end its complicity in genocide.”

  • (6/7) Rashida Tlaib forces Democrats to go on the record on Israeli aggression, by Mitchell Plitnick: Vote in Congress reveals changing attitudes towards Israel and its invasion of Lebanon. “Rashida Tlaib’s bill calling to end U.S. support for Israel’s ongoing invasion of Lebanon upset Democratic Party leaders who want to avoid a vote on Israel. Ninety-one Democrats supported the bill, a surprising number, and as did one Republican (outgoing Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie)… Still, the 177 Democrats who voted against it show there is still a long way to go.”

  • (6/4) Revealed Israel’s curriculum for ‘influencing public consciousness, by Illy Pe’ery: A leaked Defense Ministry tender lays out the army’s training program for manipulating public opinion in Israel and abroad using psychological operations designed to “influence public consciousness” in Israel and abroad. The army course explicitly states that this module is designed for “the distribution and promotion of illegitimate content using technological tools and solutions—a route that bypasses Facebook and Google.” Israeli hasbara on steroids.

  • (6/8) The Cost of Survival in Gaza, by Emma Goldberg & Emily Kassie: Severe Israeli restrictions and a shadowy and corrupt smuggling economy linked to the Israeli security establishment, make prices for basic needs in Gaza prohibitably expensive for families struggling to survive. This is the outcome of the destruction of humanitarian organizations by Israel while brokers, fee-charging middlemen and war profiteers make huge profits.
