Where to begin

👋 Let’s start off by saying, you will almost exclusively find me writing in my local Gail’s.

That isn’t to say that Gail’s is the best coffee shop around, but as a big believer in not taking up tables at your local independent coffee shop with your laptop, (we’ve hopefully all watched that Fleabag scene), Gail’s is my point of call when I’m sick and tired of my kitchen table.

Which happens to be very, very often.

So, how did we get here, to this brand new Substack?

About two years ago, I came up with the idea for a podcast titled The Sunday Reset. I was tired of searching through Spotify and Apple Podcasts for a chilled listen to set me up for the week ahead, that didn’t involve hundreds of guests trying to sell their latest skincare brand or jewellery line.

And while I still believe The Sunday Reset would make a great podcast, I sat on the idea for two years without acting, feeling that I just don’t have much more to add to the conversations I’m already listening to.

If I started a podcast, I wanted it to be really good, and I knew that part of that was being open and vulnerable in a way that I just wasn’t comfortable with when speaking into a mic.

However, one thing I have always been very good at is writing vulnerably (sometimes, a little too vulnerably). In 2013, I started AliceMoyna (then known as Alice’s Antics), and there is something so endearing about an 18-year-old sitting on Blogspot before she even had an Instagram account, writing to the world about how she was feeling.

If I’m honest, I’m a little more jaded now, and the internet’s a lot more terrifying, but I like to think I’m also a bit wiser—and I really hope I can still write with the same candour and openness that built my blog back in 2013.

So, every Sunday, you’ll receive a newsletter straight to your inbox in the early hours of the morning. No matter how you’re spending (in my opinion) the best day of the week, you can take some time for yourself to read the musings, anecdotes, and life updates from this 30-year-old Londoner.

As a side note, I unfortunately made the decision to start this Substack on a very sunny Thursday afternoon, so this is my opening post. Not sent on a Sunday.

Because life is too short to wait around, and let’s face it, I’ve already wasted two whole years trying to get this thing off the ground.
