Getting to know The Natural Africa skincare line

One of the perks of my job is that I’m lucky enough to have the odd skincare product arrive on my desk for review, but it’s not often I have a full range to get stuck into. The Natural Africa is an independent, botanics-based skincare brand that blends science and heritage. Its small yet mighty range boasts every product needed for an efficient, effective regimen - plus, they look great and feel totally luxurious.

I’ve been testing each product for a few weeks, giving each a fair shot to do its thing. Here are a few initial thoughts.

Starting at the beginning with the Rooibos Cleansing Cream, as with every other product in its small family, it’s packaged beautifully. Yes, this isn’t necessary for a product to work well, but it’s always a nice bonus. Plus if you’re paying a lot for your skincare, it better look good. Each bottle is weighty, sleek, and has an almost clay-like texture.

A cream formula, this is best used as the second stage of your double cleanse. It’s designed to be gentle, refreshing and hydrating, rich in natural oils and antioxidants to purify and protect. I found this to be a really unique product - it feels warming on the skin, almost tingly, but not in a sensitive skin panic way. It leaves your face feeling smooth, supple and refreshed, never overly-stripped.

With the weather getting cooler, my hydrating serums are having to put in a little more elbow grease. I was intrigued to see how the brand’s Cape Aloe Serum would fare after its promise to promote and lock in moisture. A water-based serum, this product provides a nice level of hydration, and sinks into the skin quickly without leaving behind any residue.

This is very much one of those “my face just had a drink” serums - it certainly leaves your skin feeling smooth, refreshed and firm. I don’t know if someone with very dry skin might want something a little more heavy-duty, but for my everyday, it works a treat.

The Ressurection Moisturiser is another hydration hero that was very much welcomed into my autumn/winter rotation. While it feels thick when first applied, it sinks into the skin beautifully, feeling supportive and soothing. It simply does everything it says on the tin - an all-round great moisturiser for many.

Finally, we have the Rosehip Oil. I never get that excited over oils, so I expected this to be my least reached for of the range, but I was very wrong. The texture of this oil is like few I’ve tried - luxurious, velvety and a joy to work into the skin. I think my biggest gripe with oils is when they feel too greasy, and this one just feels soft and silky. I’ve found it’s made a big difference with the redness and tone of my skin, and any acne marks seem to fade quicker too. If you’re a rosehip oil fan, I couldn’t recommend this one enough.

Overall, I’m extremely impressed with the quality and efficacy of The Natural Africa. Every product feels purposeful and does its assigned job brilliantly. The line is pricey, but I believe it performs well enough to justify the price tag, alongside its commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainability. I’d recommend it to anyone seeking to invest in an independent, ethical skincare brand and I look forward to seeing what the future of The Natural Africa holds.
