Intro
Hey friends—
This has been one of those quieter weeks.
A few jam sessions, a little playing, and mostly getting the RV ready to head out for Strawberry Music Festival.
Not every week has a big story — sometimes it’s just getting things lined up for the next one.
This Week’s Curative
I thought I’d share one this week that never really made it onto an album.
It’s a song I worked on a while back but never got around to recording professionally. Sometimes those are the ones that are worth revisiting.
Around the Music
Been out to a few jam sessions — playing a little, listening a lot.
I do a lot of solo guitar gigs in the summer, I love to find some really solid jazz jams. I’m not as drawn to the louder blues jams — I tend to gravitate toward the jazz side of things, and most of my friends around Reno are in that world.
What Caught My Eye
Strawberry’s Past
Gold Country
I’ll also be heading down into Gold Country for a celebration of life for a good friend of mine known as the Tone Ranger, who recently passed.
They’re planning a bit of a parade through Columbia, kind of a second-line feel — maybe a New Orleans-style send-off without the New Orleans instruments.
Should be good to see some old friends and remember a few stories.
Substack & Recent Posts
I’ve been posting a bit more over on Substack lately.
This week’s piece was:

And another one goes out tomorrow with a few more notes from the week.
Looking Ahead
Right now it’s mostly about getting ready to head out.
Strawberry’s coming up, and I’m looking forward to being around a lot of music for a few days.
Outro
Thanks for following along — even on the quieter weeks.
Those are usually the ones where things are actually getting put together.
