“La vita sarda” (the Sardinian way of life) is rooted in strong family ties, close-knit communities, seasonal food, and a deep connection to the natural world. Sardinia is home to one of the world’s recognised Blue Zones, where these traditions are believed to contribute to longevity, wellbeing, and a slower, more balanced pace of life across generations.
I’ve recently come back from a press trip to Sardinia, and I’m already dreaming of returning. This time, I had the joy of sharing it with my son, Frank. There’s something incredibly special about discovering a new place together, whilst spending uninterrupted time together away from the distractions of everyday life.
We stayed at the Belmond Hotel Romazzino, nestled in one of the world’s recognised Blue Zones. Learning more about the lifestyle and traditions that contribute to this remarkable way of living — while surrounded by such a beautiful setting — made our stay even more fascinating. It’s easy to understand why this region has earned its reputation.
One of the things I loved most about Sardinia was how it encouraged us to slow down. We started each day with breakfast on the terrace, taking in the views before the day began. Mornings were spent at the Blue Zone workshops covering the Power 9 lifestyle habits which was so interesting and left me with a lot to implement in my everyday life!
