Alex Henry Foster · A View From Within

As you might have guessed, I’ve been increasingly immersed in my inner creative universe for a while now. Resurfacing to keep communing through our unique relationship helps me remain focused on what truly matters to me, on what gives a much more profound meaning, if not a greater purpose, to everything I’m so invested in presently. Our connection stands as a beaming lighthouse in the otherwise darkness I’m engulfing myself in, trying to discern fragments of halos and components of hope through the lingering shadows of my heart and soul.

I’ve been feeling in a sort of transcending stream lately, letting my mind navigate through all the different seasons of my life somehow, as if I were traveling deep within to make peace with the countless measures of blurs I’ve been trying to reappropriate after the severe microembolism I endured during my heart surgery. It’s an attempt to piece back my journey, but a desire to spark my memory back, to get some sense of self, of clarity. It’s an endless cycle for me, even if I know that, as dedicated and engaged as I might be, the damage is done, no matter how hard I would like to forcefully hijack some of the pages from my rolodex of souvenirs that have been so violently ripped away from me.

A glimpse on my creative space

I guess the inherent impact that has been ravaging me profoundly has more to do with my psyche being presently rewiring than with the accessory fact that I have to accept my condition and therefore need to let go of those significant elements, candescent remnants — from faces, places, instants, sensations, up to everything else I’ve lost and would so dearly love to hang onto once in a while, if only for a second or two when I close my eyes. And if the blurs remain the missing chapters of a biographical book that rarely seems to make sense to me anymore, I’ve learned to appreciate the utmost blessing that comes with the possibility that I now have to reinvent myself, avoiding, by doing so, losing myself in the margins of who I once was or finding myself stuck in-between the multiple streams of my existence, while seeking to fill the blanks of a carnet de voyage that wasn’t meant to be revisited in the first place, let alone to be clanged when comes the time to molt…

That’s what my upcoming single, Springtime, to be released in only a few days (June 17th), reflects on. It’s a yearning sentiment for birth and rebirth in a context that sees hope as a brutal necessity to become the renewed vision we have to nurture in the face of desperation. There are several layers of emotional awareness… Self-transformation isn’t possible without any spiritual departure, nor a renaissance without passing. What I convey in those different layers is the implication of those multiple revivification passages, reason why the images are numerous, I suppose… The song’s catalyst is the ongoing motion of life as a whole rather than the aspiration we might have to unravel its ultimate destination’s mystery. Springtime is an immutable state in which beauty is born from fracture rather than perfection… It’s the fragile beauty of new morning hopes, one that resides in a pure personal abandonment.

I’ll have the opportunity to share a whole lot more about the song in the upcoming weeks, but I wanted to give you the inceptive insights that led me to incarnate Springtime.

Life creates life,

Your friend and brother,

Alex
