“How do I get my husband, parents, in-laws — everyone who touches my kids life — on board with Human Design when they have zero interest in learning it?” This is, hands down, one of the most common questions I get from parents.
I think this question comes with the assumption that knowing this information for your child would mean you would have to do an entire life-overhaul in order to “do it right”
And if you’re already here, interested and willing to learn, I would go out on a limb to say that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
First of all, and I’ll continue to say it over and over again in every single post even if you’re sick of hearing it and just like… Alex, where the hell is the actual human design parenting content?! I will absolutely die on the hill screaming that the best thing you can do for your child is get in touch with your own energy and live in alignment with your authentic Self.
Human Design is my main method of choice to get there. But I’m definitely not a ‘follow it by the books’ type person. I’m one of those people who has taken the information, contemplated, experimented , and integrated it over the years. A decade actually. And now, even 10 years later, I’m understanding it in a whole new way. And that’s a great thing! The whole point of Human Design is to experiment and evolve with the system. In the earlier days, I certainly created more limitations than I did leverage through my obsession with the system. These days, I have a much more laid back, show me the proof, and get me to the real, earth-shaking stuff, type of approach. And I appreciate how it’s something that is designed to grow with you. Not a set of rules and regulations to follow and stay stagnant in.
If it’s keeping you small, you’re doing it wrong.
But that’s not the part of ‘doing it wrong’ I’m talking about.
When it comes to actually parenting your child in accordance with Human Design, it can often be referred to as an instruction manual or a roadmap. If you’re a real OG and you once had my Child Chart Reading offering, you know that’s exactly how I marketed it. But I think those catchy little phrases can get us hooked on the idea that it will automatically make parenting more straight forward. Which, if you are a parent, you know is just not the case.
The reality is there is no instruction manual for your child. Every child is going to be so different, and every day with that child is going to show you a different side of them, and you. And there is a huge difference between Human Design in theory, and the day to day interactions you have with your child.
That’s one of the things that shocked me most and actually caused me to pull back from Human Design when my first child was born. I couldn’t even think about it in the early days of survival mode. My lack of motivation for obsessing over both of my kids designs ended up being the greatest gift. Because it created space for me to observe, and realize what ACTUALLY matters most. And what you can really truly see when you’re not *trying* to look.
The reality is, we don’t have endless pockets of time to dive into the ins and outs of our child’s designs, let alone figure out how to apply it.
And here’s the good news: You don’t have to. Yes, I’m serious. The person who has “human design parenting educator” in her bio is telling you that you don’t have to have your child’s chart figured out in order to parent in alignment with their design.
You just have to know how to use one very specific aspect of the system to condition them according to their nature.
I’m going to show you exactly how to use that one very important part in the most practical way And unlike the more popular aspects of your chart, how this one shows itself literally from the moment your child arrives.
PS. It doesn’t matter how old your child is now. This hindsight is going to help you see that you’ve been supporting their design all along… even when you weren’t aware of it.
