In the wake of my grief I find my self challenging all that I thought was for me.

Run your fingers down my spine and I’ll tell you of the time I believed heroes didn’t wear capes but afros, dresses and kaftans.

Step one - Fall asleep on your 29th birthday smelling like smoke and your mothers perfume.

In my mind I was going to write this while sitting at my computer, listening to Quincy jones on vinyl, sipping tea, wine or all of the above.

I spent years mistaking your emotional laziness for depth.
