Welcome to the latest edition of my monthly Field Notes. This is where I share new openings and happenings on the French Riviera, what I’ve been reading, watching, and eating, and what’s coming up next for me.
France, and much of Europe, honestly, has been in a heatwave this week. While I was hesitant for a few months about whether or not we should spend the money on an air conditioner, I’m now so glad we did. The weather the past week has been brutal.
June also brought us quite a few visitors, which meant trying lots of new restaurants. One of the places I was most curious to check out was Le Bistrot des Serruriers, the more casual bistro attached to Nice’s Hôtel du Couvent, a property that has been receiving a ton of attention lately.
It was named one of the World’s 50 Best Hotels, has been written about in Vogue France, and seems to be praised constantly for its architecture and design. As a hotel geek, I was excited to see the property for myself.
