TIM POV

Ever since I’d left the coffee shop where Gavin and I talked to Pierre about what he thought Jason was up to, I’d been uneasy. I didn’t understand why Jason wouldn’t let me be. I had moved on; it was nearly two years ago that I’d left Gavin and Jason. Sitting on Gavin’s couch, I just stared at my phone, looking at the text messages from Gus. The apartment was empty, no Gavin, just quiet.

Fuck, meeting Jason was the plan; it made sense when I was talking to Pierre. Instead of being behind the eight-ball, wondering what Jason wanted, I was going to meet with him and convince him I wanted to reconnect. I knew what that meant, what I’d likely have to do. But if this was the only way I could finally escape his clutches, then I would do it.

I knew Pierre was right; Jason wasn’t going to stop. He’d keep watching me from afar. This way, at least I would have some sort of control. I had to find out what he wanted.

I put my mobile down and closed my eyes. My wrist still hurt, a reminder of what Jason could do, how he would react after I tried to move on from him.

I heard the front door open. Gavin was talking to someone on his phone: “Okay, I’ll send the revisions tonight,” he was saying. He took off his tie as he moved through the apartment. He looked at me on the couch and caught my face. I’m not sure what he saw, but he told whoever he was talking to he had to go. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow,” he said.

Gavin hung up and put his mobile on the kitchen counter, he looked at me, he was always good at sensing if something was wrong with me. He looked at me; “Tim, are you ok? Your face is white; it looks like you’ve seen a ghost.” I told him I had to tell him something. His face immediately changed; he looked worried. He took his suit jacket off and sat down next to me, okay, what’s going on? He asked.

I looked at him, trying to think of what to say, trying to think of a way to tell him I was going to use myself as bait to try and get information out of the man that destroyed our marriage. There was no easy way to tell him. “Jason’s been watching me; he thinks I’m unfinished business after I walked away from our marriage, after I left you and him.”

“I’ve also been told that he was responsible for my accident, whether it was him or someone else, I’m not sure, but it looks like it was his car, same make, same model, same color.”

“Fuck,” he said, “Jason was behind your accident?” He said it like he found it hard to believe. “Gus has friends in the police, they saw the camera footage, they can’t prove it was him yet as the number plates were hidden, but they’re still working on getting better pictures to see who was actually driving the car. Gus and I met with Pierre; he confirmed that Jason has been following me, asking questions about me, about my routine, about my preferences at the club.”

Gavin stood up; he started pacing; he had a worried look on his face; he looked at me. “So what are you actually planning?” Gavin was the type that needed to know what was going on; if there was a problem, he had to be involved in solving it. “I’m going to confront him,” I told Gavin, the words stumbling out of my mouth. ”Pierre is going to tell him he bumped into me, that I asked about him, showing a little interest. Jason will contact me; he won’t be able to help himself.” Gavin looked at me with an incredulous look on his face. “You’ve got to be kidding, he said, why would you put yourself in danger like that?”

“I need to know what he wants,” I told him. “I’m not spending the rest of my life looking over my shoulder. Gus and Pierre agree that it’s the best way to see what Jason wants, what he’s planning.” “Fuck Tim, I don’t think you realise how dangerous Jason can be. I mean, if you’re right and he hit you with his car, what else is he prepared to do if you don’t do what he says?”

“You just got out of hospital nearly a week ago, you’re still under medication, do you really think this is the right time to do this?” He had a point, but I wasn’t going to second-guess myself; I had to do this now. “It has to be now”, I told him. “While I’m still living with you, Gus has my mobile tracked. He said he has something else that will guarantee he can track me and keep me safe.”

Gavin looked at me. “You know what he’ll want for him to believe you want to reconnect with him, don’t you?” he said. “I’m not stupid, Gavin; I know what I’m getting into.” He looked at me, shaking his head. “I still think this is a bad idea, Tim.” I can’t blame him for being worried; fuck I was worried as well.

Gavin sat down next to me. He took my hand in his. “Let Gus know I want to be involved. Anything he wants from me, I can understand you wanting to know what Jason is after, but you have to be careful, Tim. You know how controlling Jason is; you know how he doesn’t let go once he has you in his circle.” I looked at Gavin and wondered about what he just said; he doesn’t let go once he has you….

We spent the rest of the night relaxing, watching TV. Gavin ordered some Thai food; we started watching Schitt’s Creek. I’d seen all of the episodes, but they were still fun.

The next day I woke late. I did a few things around the apartment before getting ready for my weekly therapist appointment.

My session with Dr Winters ran over by 10 minutes. I was telling him I was under a lot of stress at the moment, and he wanted to run through some breathing exercises with me to help me relax before I left. He closed the session with usual questions: “Are you sleeping well? Are you eating properly, getting enough exercise? These all contribute to your overall wellbeing,” he said. I left his office with a positive feeling; the breathing exercises had helped.

I just stepped out into the street, and I almost jumped out of my skin. Oh fuck, Jason was standing waiting with two coffees in his hand; he wasn’t hiding; it was like he expected me to come out when I did. He held out a coffee to me, Flat white with oat milk?

I looked at him, taking the coffee. “Thanks,” I said.

“What are you doing here, Jason? How did you know I would be here?”

I already knew the answer to that question; he had been watching, following, asking about me. “Well, your routine is very predictable, Tim: Dr Winters’ office, Third Floor, every Tuesday, same time, always runs over 5 or 10 minutes. He’s a good therapist, has a good reputation.”

“How are you, Tim?” he said, looking at me with a straight look on his face. “I heard you had an accident. What happened?” He asked. I looked at him, knowing it was probably him behind my accident. His face portrayed someone who was worried, someone who didn’t know what happened.

“I was hit by a car,” I told him. “I’m healing well, thanks,” I told him; “it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.” “I’m so happy to hear it,” he said. “I hate to see you hurt, Tim. I want to see you healthy and happy like you were when you were with Gavin and me.”

“I spoke to Pierre last night,” he said. “he mentioned he had seen you at a coffee shop, that you asked about me. I just had to come and see you for myself.”

I sipped my coffee, trying to think of something to say to that. “Well, I guess bumping into Pierre reminded me of some of the hot sessions we had when Gavin and I were still together,” I told him. “Yes, I remember,” he said. “You took to training very well, although maybe a bit stubborn; I think you still had a lot to learn as a sub.”

“I’m not sure I can do this again, I told him. Whatever this is.”

“Are you sure, Tim? Because according to Pierre, you’re still interested, maybe missing something.”

“How about you come by and see me? We’ll have a deeper conversation,” he said. “You can bring Gus if you don’t feel safe,” he said. “I’ll send you an invite soon.”

“I want it to be on my terms,” I told Jason.

“Come on, Tim, you know by now everything is on my terms, always has been and always will be.”

With that, a black sedan pulled up. He nodded to me and got in the car. “I’ll be in touch,” he said. I watched as the car turned around the corner. I had my phone in my hand and automatically rang Gus’s number.

“Tim, what’s wrong?” Gus answered; he always knew when something was up.

“Jason was waiting for me,” I told him. “He was out the front of Dr Winters’ building; he was just waiting there for me. Gus, he knew where I was; he even had the type of coffee I drink.”

“Oh, shit Tim,” he said, “I’m coming to get you, stay where you are, just stay out in the open where there are people around.”

I heard him grab his keys and a door slam. “Stay on the phone,” he said. “I won’t be long. Talk to me, Tim. What did he say?”

“He told me he wanted to see me; he was going to send me an invite, and I should bring you as well if I didn’t feel safe.”

“Bloody hell,” Gus said. I could hear the sound of a car engine in the background. “he’s acting like he’s an old friend who wants to reconnect, even sounding generous letting you have someone come with you so you feel safe.”

“Where are you exactly, Tim?”

“I’m on the corner of Exhibition and Russell Streets,” I told him. “There’s a coffee shop just up a little on the left. I’m going to wait for you there. I need to sit down,” I told him.

“Okay, just stay on the phone with me,” Gus said.

“He told me he had heard about my accident, but acted like he didn’t know what happened. He wants me well, like when I was with Gavin and him,” he said. “Fuck,” Gus said, “he wants you back under his control.” “I know,” I said.

I thought about the last time I saw Jason. Gavin and I had been fucking, and he had been banging on the front door. When we didn’t answer, he came in anyway; he still had a key.

He and Gavin fought about Gavin leaving the company, and Gavin kicked him out of the house. I’ll never forget the angry look of betrayal on his face. Gavin eventually ended up going back to the company and to Jason; for some reason, he could never resist Jason... that thought stuck with me.

I opened the door of the coffee shop and found somewhere to sit near the window, facing the door. I ordered a coffee and waited. I looked at my hands, for some reason they were shaking, my coffee arrived and I wrapped my hands around the cup.

“Are you there?” Gus said.

“Yeah, I’m in the coffee shop, near the window so I can see you when you arrive.”

“Good, I’m a couple of minutes away,” he said. “Just stay where people can see you.”

I sipped my coffee; the coffee shop was pretty busy: students with laptops, a man reading the paper, a lady on her phone talking to someone. I guess it was the regular Tuesday crowd.

“He made sure I knew everything was going to be on his terms, Gus,” I told him. “It’s not going to be in a mutual setting; it will be where he wants the meeting to be.”

I thought about that for a moment. How was I going to be safe if we walked into an unknown setting?

I saw Gus pull up outside; he got out of the car, I stood up, and he met me at the door.

“Are you okay?” He asked. He gave me a hug. “Come on, let’s get you back to Gavin’s”, he said.

With his arm around me, he took me to the car and opened the door for me.

I waited until we were driving away before speaking again. “He knew everything,” I told him, “where the building was, what time I was seeing Dr Winters; he even knew what type of coffee I drink.”

Gus looked at me with a worried look on his face. “He didn’t threaten you, or anything, did he?” “No, he was pleasant in a Jason way. He was happy to tell me what my routine was, that I was predictable.”

“I’m starting to have second thoughts about this,” Gus said. “If he can just turn up out of the blue like this, he’s obviously two steps ahead.” “We need to know what he’s planning, Gus; I refuse to let him scare me.”

My phone pinged with a text message; it was from an unknown number. It was an invitation to an event at the Collar Club tomorrow night. It would make me very happy if you were my guest tomorrow night, Tim. Please extend the invite to Gus as well.

“Who is it?” Gus asked, looking at me.

“It’s Jason. He sent an invite to the Collar Club tomorrow night. There’s an event, and he wants me to be his guest. He said to invite you as well.”

“Shit”, Gus said. “This is moving faster than what we thought. We need to get together with Gavin; we need a plan.”

My stomach sank. I knew we’d been talking about this; we had been planning for it, but now the time was nearly here. I was worried; Jason was unpredictable.

The moves were all in Jason’s favor; he picked the venue, the event, and who knows if he was going to be alone or with someone else.

We arrived at Gavin’s place; he wasn’t there; he left a note saying he had an urgent meeting and would be back later. I decided I needed to lie down. “Gus, I’m going to have a rest, okay?” “I’ll wait in the lounge room”, he said. “You don’t have to,” I told him. I think he got the idea and followed me into the guestroom.

I lay down on the bed, and Gus lay next to me. I turned and faced him on the bed. I’ve missed you. Oh fuck, Tim, I’ve missed you so much. We started kissing. I have to be careful; I’m still a little sore, I told him. “Let me make you feel better,” Gus replied. My cock was throbbing in my pants. He pulled my zipper down and pushed my pants and underwear off.
