The 49ers called a neat Counter variation in their 2025 week 11 matchup with the Cardinals.
This “Bam” tag is an adjustment to make Counter- Weak more viable against Odd/Tite fronts.
Getting a double team on a 4 or 4i technique is challenging. Often times, the play side tackle is left by himself, with poor leverage to prevent the defensive end from getting up field.
Tasking the PST to block out and have the kickout take place on the 4i defensive end is the solution Kyle Shanahan and his staff came up with for this game.
This is an awesome adjustment, and gets the ball carrier working downhill immediately.
