There was a moment, maybe you’ve had one too when I felt as though I was slipping out of my own skin. One minute I was fine, the next minute I was ready to cry, or scream, or quit everything and run away to a cabin in the woods where no one needed anything from me.
It felt like too much.
Too hot.
Too loud.
Too messy.
And for a while, I whispered to myself, “What’s happening to me?”
But as the days stretched on, something fierce began to flicker beneath the confusion. Something I hadn’t felt in years. A fire I had dimmed to keep the peace, to hold things together, to be the steady one. Menopause didn’t drown that fire. It uncovered it.
Here’s the strange magic of this stage: You get sharper and softer at the same time. Your tolerance for bullshit evaporates -fierce. But your tenderness for yourself grows - soft.
Your boundaries become clearer - fierce. But your heart becomes kinder toward your own story - soft.
It’s a recalibration, not a collapse. It’s the part of the journey where you stop pretending to be who the world asked you to be and start becoming the woman you were always meant to grow into.
In fact, if we look at the cultures that still honour elderhood, this is the era where women become leaders, guides, truth-tellers. Not background characters, not faded versions of their younger selves. But bright, commanding, grounded presences.
In many traditions, menopause marks the moment a woman becomes dangerous in the best possible way - not because she loses control, but because she gains it.
She steps out of the roles that kept her small. She stands in her wisdom and she becomes unshakeable.
But In Our Culture, We Go Through It Quietly
We sit with the symptoms alone.
We question our minds.
We question our worth.
We wonder where the old “us” went.
But here’s the truth I want you to hold gently, fiercely, and fully:
Your identity isn’t dissolving. It’s realigning.
You’re not disappearing. You’re returning to yourself.
You’re not losing your power. You’re remembering it.
Some days will feel like you’re unravelling, other days will feel like you’re brand-new.
Some days will feel like you’re standing in a doorway between who you were and who you’re becoming. And that’s exactly what’s happening. You’re crossing a threshold.
You’re stepping toward a version of yourself that holds more truth, more wisdom, more clarity, and more grounding than you’ve ever had. This time is not a decline. This is an initiation.

You don’t have to navigate this alone.
And you don’t have to hide what you’re going through.
Menopause isn’t your undoing. It’s your unfolding. It’s your rise, your reckoning, your return. When you look back, you’ll see this was never about losing yourself it was about meeting the woman you’ve been growing into all along.
A woman of depth, of wisdom. A woman who stands fully in her own skin again and who refuses to shrink.
You.
In your truest form.
