On 24 June two devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela in quick succession.

Independent Venezuela-based media outlet Venezuelanalysis have reported on the extent of the destruction caused by the earthquakes:
As of July 2, the death toll stood at 2,595, with more than 12,000 injured and more than 15,000 displaced families. Unofficial databases have placed the number of people missing at more than 40,000, though they are known to contain duplicates. Venezuelan authorities have yet to give a figure on how many are unaccounted for.
Now they have published a page with the basic information about the double earthquake. In addition to basic facts and figures it lists some of the long-term implications. Importantly too the page also includes a non-exhaustive list of grassroots initiatives that are raising funds to rebuild their communities and help the displaced families.
