Furthermore, military culture, often hierarchical and conservative, can discourage experimentation and the proposal of unconventional approaches. The need to connect with innovators and provide them with a means to develop and test their ideas is crucial, but it is often hampered by the rigidity of the system [7].

Modern warfare, characterized by the proliferation of low-cost, high-effectiveness technologies such as drones, demands agility and adaptability that current bureaucratic structures often cannot provide. It is imperative that armed forces reconsider their approaches, open their doors to external innovation, and empower new generations of military leaders to implement creative and efficient solutions.

The recent Russian drone incidents in Poland are a stark reminder that modern warfare has evolved. The ability of an adversary to use low-cost technology to challenge the defenses of technologically advanced nations highlights the urgent need for strategic re-evaluation. The military response, while effective in neutralizing the immediate threat, has exposed a significant economic vulnerability.

To overcome this paradox, armed forces must embrace a culture of innovation that goes beyond mere hardware acquisition. This involves fostering an environment where young minds and their disruptive ideas are valued and allowed to flourish, breaking down the barriers of bureaucracy and resistance to change. Only then can a more agile, efficient, and sustainable defense be developed against the emerging threats of the 21st century. The security of Europe and the relevance of NATO in the future will depend on its ability to adapt and evolve faster than its adversaries.
