Hello again, dear reader.
In case you're new here, I'm Alastair Johnston and you're receiving this newsletter because you subscribed over at my blog or via a link from Substack. I'm grateful for you giving me some of your time and attention and hope I always inform or entertain you here. If not, please feel free to unsubscribe, I won't be offended.
As the world seems to be on fire, to help my sanity I finally forced myself to get writing again. I’m sorry it’s taken this long. Sometimes life and personal issues just get in the way of the muse. So here’s a few things to share with you.
We lost a bird and it broke my heart
I’ve kick started my reading and updated my bookstack
I’ve started de-googling my life by moving all online photo’s to Ente, backing up locally and then hitting delete in Google Photo’s. That felt good!
I’ve been thinking about how charities should reconsider their use of data tracking services
Updated my Now page and About page
I chuckled at this video (see enshittification comment below) made by the Norwegian Consumer Council
Small steps and all that but I’m back making things…
Reminder - at some point I’ll be moving this email newsletter away from Substack, so if you’ve subscribed by the app rather than good old email, you’ll need to change that as Substack won’t allow me to export your details (yes they are slowly starting the enshittification playbook path)
That’s it for now.
Be kind and live well!
