MABUS, TRUMP, PUTIN… or the Eternal Human Obsession With the Antichrist?

Every so often a thought based on my early development way of viewing the world creeps back into my mind, like an old song you didn’t realize you still remembered.

Mabus. The Third Anti-Christ, or the precursor to the Third Antichrist, as predicted by Michel Nostradamus.

If you grew up on Disney movies, that word probably means nothing to you.

If you grew up like I did—on stories about apparitions, prophecy, and the strange poetry of Nostradamus—then Mabus is one of those mysterious puzzle pieces that never quite settles into place.

I grew up hearing about Nostradamus the way other kids heard about Cinderella.

Instead of happily-ever-after stories, I heard about quatrains and wondered when the world would end.

Instead of glass slippers, I heard about cryptic prophecies written in riddles, scrambled letters, and symbolic language.

Anyways, this is all a finer, more detailed presentation for another memoir that I will write if the world doesn’t end anytime soon.

In Quatrain 2:62, Nostradamus writes:

“Mabus will soon die, then will come
A horrible slaughter of people and animals.
At once vengeance will be seen,
One hundred powers, thirst, famine, when the comet will run.”

Nostradamus goes on to describe Mabus' death as a trigger of a "horrible slaughter" of “humans and animals,” potentially “sparking a 27-year war.” The quatrain suggests Mabus dies early in this conflict, often interpreted by believers as a major catalyst for this catastrophic war.

And there is a comet about to graze the Sun on April 4 … and a new Iranian leader, Mojtaba.

Theories have ranged wildly: kings, dictators, popes, modern political figures, even entire nations.

Why?

Because Nostradamus depicts Mabus as the third and final Antichrist.

The first is often associated with Napoleon Bonaparte.
The second with Adolf Hitler.

Nostradamus famously referred to Hitler as “Hister.”

Not an exact spelling—but eerily close.

And that’s part of the intrigue.

Nostradamus didn’t write like a modern journalist. He wrote like a Renaissance astrologer, through a looking glass, in French and Roman languages blended all while trying to avoid both censorship and persecution. His words were scrambled, symbolic, multilingual, and sometimes intentionally distorted.

Letters flipped.

Languages blended.

Spellings warped.

Sometimes a b could be a p, an s could be a t, letters could appear backwards or out of order.

Which means people have spent centuries rearranging his words like cosmic Scrabble.

Once you start looking at Nostradamus through that lens, the mind begins to wander.

For example:

MABUS
could become

MAPUS
TRUMP

Or MOJTABA (M- - SABA) …

Or PUTIN (MAPUT) …

Now—before anyone grabs their pitchforks or conspiracy corkboard—let’s be clear.

This is speculation. I believe in Quantum physics and that the future is both flexible, but also in existence with the past and present.

But if world events weren’t so strange lately, the thought probably wouldn’t keep popping into my head.

I’ve openly joked for years now that Trumparoni might be Mabus. (Yes, I said it.) But now, it makes more sense than ever.

It’s almost as if he knows that Iran will assassinate him, and he has left clear instructions on the vengeance to follow in that event.

But if we’re being honest, I’ve never thought Donald Trump was quite strategic enough to fit the archetype of some grand puppet-master Antichrist figure.

A chaos generator? Sure. A puppet? Absolutely.

But the mastermind behind global catastrophe?

That always seemed like a stretch.

Which leads to another possibility.

Enter Vladimir Putin.

Now that archetype fits the darker mythological mold much more closely.

Calculated. Strategic. Patient. Cold-blooded geopolitical chess.

In this scenario, Trump isn’t the Antichrist.

He’s the puppet.

Putin would be the one pulling strings from behind the curtain.

If you play with the Nostradamus letter gymnastics again:

MABUS → MAPUS → PUTIN?

Still imperfect.

But Nostradamus rarely gave perfect puzzles.

What makes Quatrain 2:62 particularly chilling isn’t just the mystery of Mabus.

It’s what comes after.

The prophecy says the death of Mabus triggers:

  • massive slaughter

  • famine and thirst

  • upheaval across “a hundred powers”

  • possibly a 27-year war according to some interpretations.

Ironically, the death of the supposed villain is what unleashes chaos.

The older I get, the more grounded my worldview has become.

I’m far less interested in literal doomsday predictions than I was as a kid hearing Nostradamus stories and visiting Virgin Mary apparition sites.

But here’s the thing.

Even with a more realistic belief system now, it’s hard to ignore that some of Nostradamus’ imagery lines up uncannily well with real historical events.

Here’s a final thought that often occurs to me.

What if Mabus isn’t a person at all?

What if Mabus is an era? What if it is a terroristic group known as Hamas?

A symbol. A dark ideology.

A moment when humanity’s darker impulses—power, domination, tribalism—reach a breaking point.

In that sense, Mabus could be the collective shadow of our species.

Which might be far more unsettling than blaming one villain.

So here we are.

Mabus.

Trump.

Putin.

Hamas.

Or none of the above.

Just one of those strange mental puzzles Nostradamus planted centuries ago that still manages to poke at our collective imagination.

Personally, I hope the whole thing is just Renaissance poetry doing what poetry does best—provoking thought without predicting fate.

But I’ll admit…

When the world starts feeling a little too volatile…

That word still floats back into my mind.

Mabus. Who is Mabus?
