It is a much quieter week as I catch up on editing all of last week’s photos. The highlights this week include the Festival of Peace, which commemorates the 2nd World War nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima. It was also the launch of the London Design Festival, with many sculptures and talks to attend.
Swag Age in Concert debuts at the West End, blending vibrant Korean folk dance with breakdance at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on Monday, 8th September. An early Sunday morning photocall took place in front of St Paul’s Cathedral under clear blue skies and warm weather. Ideally, such shoots are scheduled to avoid crowds and security, and for us, it went smoothly without incident.
The UK Government was testing the severe alert system, sending mobile messages to all UK phones on Sunday, 7th September at 3 pm. I took some shots for stock when the alerts went off. This is about thinking outside the box; what would editors want images of for this story? So, I captured a few. Ideally, I wanted to take shots of a crowd of people all taking out their phones at the same time, but that didn’t happen.

Festival for Peace 2025 is a celebration of culture, creativity, and togetherness. It brings together diverse communities through fashion, dance, and music — using creativity to promote mutual understanding and appreciation. It was inspiring to see so many people engaging with the message of unity.
The event was held to mark the 80th anniversary of the Hiroshima nuclear bombing in Japan during the 1940s. Hiroshima is not only a place of sorrow but also a symbol of peace. Therefore, I attended the Festival of Peace, spending a lovely afternoon photographing the events and the red carpet fashion show. The focus was on the Japanese Kimono and some Japanese singing performances. It took place in a hidden part of London called Camden Passage, just outside Angel tube station. London Design Festival launches ‘What Nelson Sees’ by Paul Cocksedge and Google Arts & Culture at Trafalgar Square, examining London’s past, present, and future through AI filmmaking. The installation runs until 18 September 2025. Viewers observing the installation are transported to live views of the city from Nelson’s perspective. The scene then rewinds through time, showcasing changing modes of transport from cars to horse-drawn carriages, from streetlights to gas lamps, and shifting fashions. It then speeds up to a hypothetical future, exploring how London’s urban landscape might evolve to address climate change, food security, and overheating. The installation employs Google’s AI filmmaking tool.
I am gradually catching up with this journal and plan to start the membership in November. The membership will include a comprehensive set of bonus photography guides.
