I said I’ll be back next week, and here it is. We’re in the future as we speak. Oh, and spoiler, it’s scary as heck. The supercool tech bros who brought a copy/paste blender on internet words, DoucheGPT, teams up with BMW (you know, the cars with the really good drivers and subscription based seat heaters) are planning on rolling out Will Smith and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (and every workers’) worst nightmare. Bipedal robots that can ‘think’ for themselves. It’s a radical idea, has been since Asimov first wrote about them in the 1950’s, seven, eight decades ago. Now on the surface, and I mean surface, mirror polished, clean enough to eat off surface, it sounds cool. But what’s not cool about this? Corporations are creating these, for profit, to take away your job, and your neighbor’s job and my job too. Is that unrealistic? No. No it is not. Especially since America is no longer a manufacturing based economy, it will be detrimental to life in America, and perhaps the world as a whole. Is this some scare tactic? No, I don’t think so, I’m serious, and corporations are doing this. Do you know who they are held responsible to? Stockholders. You may own a few shares of some stock you saw on reddit and think you’re oh-so-cute, but you don’t have shit voting power to change any of this or the scope of the companies. Yeah, you might make a grand or even a few hundred bucks, which, good for you, we all need money in the capitalistic hellscape of a world we’re burning to death, but it’s not world changing. These robots very well could be. Imagine one of these motherfuckers with a gun. LAPD and NYPD will start rolling out these robo-cops (shit isn’t that a sci-fi movie???) and you’ll have lead pumped in you and the AI will charge you for expending its energy.
