In my column in the Business Standard last Monday, I argue that the glass is half empty and the glass is half full. There are important aspects in which the UK FTA has improved upon previous Indian work on trade openness. This is progress: the improvements will filter through into improvements in Indian firm productivity and consumer welfare albeit slowly. But when measured against Indian interests, the treaty leaves a lot to be desired.

They argue in favour of process regulation that demands observability, attributability and reversibility.
