Exports of IT and IT-enabled services, by Indian firms or by foreign firms operating in India, are central to Indian economic success. Everyone is now grappling with the question of what will happen with the AI revolution.
My column in the Business Standard from Monday, Indian services exports in the AI challenge, tries to peer into the future. I argue that investors, board members and the leadership of the relevant Indian organisations have to do much heavy lifting in facing the coming changes. Each organisation requires a portfolio of bets reflecting views about how all this will work out. But I’m largely optimistic about the need for skilled Indian labour in the new world.
